Inclusivity
The Board of the Out for Undergraduate Business Conference wants to specifically note that the Conference is designed to engage all members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. In that spirit, we ask that attendees follow the below guidelines to ensure that the Conference is a safe and open space for everyone.
Commitment to non-sexist and gender-neutral language
Please make a conscious effort to use non-sexist and gender-neutral language during the conference. Avoid all derogatory, misogynistic, and emasculating terms and phrases. Please also do your best to try to use terms such as “first-year student” and “y’all” instead of gendered terms such as “freshman” and “you guys.”
Commitment to not assume
Each of us is a complex individual from how we understand our ability status to how we define our sexuality and gender identity. Please do not assume to know anyone’s sexual identity, orientation, or practices based on their attendance at any Conference activity. Many of us identify as lesbian or gay - but many of us do not.
Commitment to anti-racism
We are committed to overcoming overt and latent racialized discrimination. Racist and discriminatory comments or attitudes will not be tolerated under any circumstance.
Commitment to trans-friendly etiquette
The Board is committed to making OUBC a safe and welcoming place for all of our transgender attendees. To be inclusive and improve the quality of life for transgender people over the weekend please do not assume anyone’s gender. A person’s external appearance may not match their internal gender identity. Try using gender-neutral phrases like “the person in the red shirt,” instead of “that woman or man.”
Gender-neutral restroom
JPMorgan’s Equal Employment Opportunity policy includes gender identity or expression and the Firm is committed to ensuring all conference participants feel comfortable while attending OUBC. To that end, JPMorgan has a number of gender-neutral restrooms available in the 383 Madison Avenue building. If you need help locating a restroom, please do not hesitate to contact one of the JPMorgan logistics staff participating in the conference. Regardless of what restroom you are in, gendered or gender-neutral, please let everyone use the restroom in peace.
